Hope Village Gives Back, Goes Green

UMCOR’s Bob Lower, who also works with Minot’s Welcome Table, prepares to take a load of food that Hope Village is donating to The Welcome Table.

The community of Minot has been generous to Hope Village, and now it has the opportunity to give back.

Immediately following the flood, Hope Village benefited from donations of food and other items from the public. Much has been used by the over 1,600 volunteers who have come through.

With the housing and feeding operation shifting gears to offsite locations in the upcoming weeks, Hope Village is sharing its bounty with the Welcome Table and other local service organizations. Three pick-up loads of canned vegetables along with other staples have made their way to assist the Welcome Table with its mission.

The Welcome Table works to nurture, guide and serve all people providing for their unmet needs. Its services include a food pantry, hot meals, basic health care, education, social work and shelter.

Extra toiletries have been donated to the Salvation Army, and Hope Village will donate other food items to the Little Hands, Loving Hearts day care center.

Hope Village also has implemented a recycling program in conjunction with “The Workshop.” The Village is collecting cans and plastic bottles for recycling through The Workshop and, after dropping off its recyclables, will collect tokens good for redemption at Marketplace Foods.
